What is robotics?
“What is robotics?” a question that arose many years ago that still stumps many people today. There is no one answer to this question. Which is why people are still asking. Modern robotics are based around technology. By technology I mean the gadgets and electronic devices that may people have at their disposal. Because many people have access to this arsenal of technology, robotics is advancing faster and faster each day. All those movies and books about robots taking over the world are never going to happen. They were all based on fear that robotics would advance at an uncontrollable rate and that humans would not be able to control them. However we have already passed that negative milestone in innovation.
Modern robotics is described as a recreational hobby, an innovative science, and a human aid in many factual books. However they are also described as a menace to society in almost every fiction book on the subject. Outside the world of books modern robotics are an ever expanding field of discovery. A field that has been expanding since the dawn of man. Not Surprisingly the expansion rate has greatly increased since then. However moder robotics are nothing like what they are described as in the terminator movies and other books and movies along that line.
Much like the dawn of man, robotics were made ages ago. Along with man, robotics have evolved. Quite exponentially might I add. At the rate man and robotics are expanding, our civilizations should be as advanced as they are in fiction novels in no time. Currently we use robotics to assist us in many daily laborious tasks. You can even say that we use them as “slaves”. However it is a nearly flawless system of checks and balances. We build them, in turn they assist us, as well as help us to expand our knowledge, In return we upgrade, repair, and innovate them. Basically it is a “I’ll scratch your back, You scratch my back” kind of system.
To me robotics means a gateway into exploration of the future. In my life robotics are more than just play things. They are an educational opportunity as well as a very fun & simple way to get stuff done. That and the fact that I think that robots are just plain awesome. If i had a choice to live my current life or be a robot. I would choose to be a robot. I think that having a well programed A.I alone, would unlock a lot of potential opportunities. I would be able to reprogram & upgrade myself. I just think that the ability to do this is awesome. I’m sure that if robots could feel “not sure if they can” they would feel the sheer awesomeness coursing through their veins (wires)*same difference* and they would feel invincible (in the sense).
